Swimming Headphones
Swimming headphones have got to be the coolest thing to come down the pike in a long time. I know I was very excited to hear that I would be able to listen to my mp3 player while participating in my favorite water activities. If you like to surf, kiteboard, swim laps, or relax in the hot tub you should check out the different kinds of swimming headphones. I don’t do much without my favorite music playing, in fact my wife calls my mp3 player my umbilical cord. Al joking aside, it is about time someone came out with a durable and long lasting waterproof headphone.
Normally underwater speakers are fairly expensive because they have to be made from alternative materials. Headphones create another problem because they have to be lightweight and withstand a good deal of bouncing around. So, is it possible to get a great sound from a submersible headphone? One company got around this problem by developing an mp3 player that transmits sound waves through the bones of your face and jaw. This solves the problem that water creates as sound travels through it. Talk about design modification. From what I hear the sound quality is very good, you’ll just need a good tight pair of goggles to hold the player in place.
Another option is a waterproof mp3 case with earbud type headphones, waterproof of course. You will get great sound this way, and you can use your current mp3 player.
Since waterproof headphones come in a variety of sizes, it will be easy to find a pair that fits you. You may find that normal waterproof headphones aren’t enough. In this case look for swimming headphones, which of course is the best option if you spend the majority of your water time actually submerged. You will have to do further research to find the headphones that fit your situation because style and function will vary.

I for one am so glad that waterproof headphones are available, and the sound quality is suprisingly good and improving. Hopefully in the near future waterproof, or swimming headphones, will produce the same high quality sound as the non- water headphones that we routinely use. Thanks for reading, and I hope you find the perfect pair of swimming headphones.
